Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : Former President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Kashmir, Constituency Three, Zahid-ul-Qamar Khan, has strongly raised his voice against the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Azad Kashmir and the Revenue Department. He demanded that the genuine problems of affected employees and pensioners should be resolved immediately. Otherwise, Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Kashmir will continue to stand with serving and retired employees, as it always has.
Talking to the media, Zahid-ul-Qamar Khan said that about 17 years ago, 14 kanals of land were awarded in the name of the Revenue Foundation under the Board of Revenue in the Azad Kashmir Revenue Cooperative Housing Society, Mirpur. Employees from all over Azad Kashmir invested millions of rupees in this project, but no development work has started so far.
He alleged that the society was deliberately deprived of basic facilities such as electricity, water, gas, roads, and plot leveling. According to him, this was done so that a specific land mafia could force employees to give up their plots. He said this was a planned scheme in which money was taken for one kanal, but only 12 marlas were given on the ground. The remaining 8 marlas were taken out through artificial “China cutting” and then sold separately.
Zahid-ul-Qamar Khan also said that old roads turning into ruins is a serious issue. He demanded that the Senior Member Board of Revenue and other concerned authorities should immediately ban buying and selling in the society, conduct a special audit, and start development work without delay. He added that if needed, a commission should also be formed to review the situation.
He further stressed that transparent elections should be held immediately according to the society’s rules and regulations. At the end, Zahid-ul-Qamar Khan clearly stated that Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Kashmir stands shoulder to shoulder with the employee community and will continue to do so. If the issues are not resolved, the responsibility will lie entirely with the concerned institutions and the government.
