DERA ISMAIL KHAN: On Saturday night, a suicide attack on a police and security force joint post on Dera-Tank road left four security personnel hurt.
According to sources, a vehicle carrying a suicide bomber hit the Kanori post in tehsil Kulachi, seriously damaging the security station and injuring four security officers.
They said that the security station was fired upon by armed gunmen who were pursuing the suicide bomber in a rickshaw. The attackers were able to escape, they added, but security forces successfully reacted.
According to sources, the suicide bomber’s vehicle was formerly owned by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s communication and works department. They claimed that on December 10, terrorists had stolen the government car.
Soon after the failed attack, a sizable number of security and police personnel from Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Kulachi, and Hathala came on the area.
After being evacuated, the wounded security guards were taken to Dera Ismail Khan’s Combined Military Hospital for medical care.
In order to capture the attackers, local police and security personnel also started a search operation.
