Youm-e-Shuhada or Martyrs’ day is a most historic day for Kashmir, it is seen and observed as the starting point of the Kashmir agitation and freedom struggle, which to this date has never gone down.
Being given the neglect by the mainstream Pakistani media and also by major human rights groups around the world, a narrative that perhaps the Kashmir Cause has lost its grip in the international arena and among the people of Kashmir, is being advocated. However, it is merely a delusion to think so; in reality the Kashmir Freedom Movement has matured over time, voyaging through distinct phases, created by the intelligent planning of Kashmiri activists. Over the time period, the Kashmir Cause has become the most mature freedom struggle of the world. In the most militarized country, facing grave anti-terror laws like POTA, TADA and AFSPA, the Kashmiri have learnt bitter lessons in their struggle; and now this struggle has grasped the hands of the educated youth of this nation.
On the other hand, for Pakistan, it is imperative to note that Kashmir has always remained its vital interest, it has never given up on Kashmir; even though on the face of it, our mainstream media and even our diplomatic stance may seem to be aloof to the matter. But the truth is that it is a part of our constitution and of the manifesto of all political groups; an interest for which wars have been fought and more are in the potential.
The UN’s lethargic attitude towards an issue, which has the potential to trigger a nuclear conflict between two nuclear armed countries, can be counted as one of the biggest crimes of this era. At the same time, torn inside due to different freedom movements, India is facing the worst situation in Kashmir now. And as India strives to divert international attention towards Afghanistan, Indian think tanks have utterly failed to find a solution for a much predicted 2014 scenario.
The Martyrs of 13th July, who sowed the seed of a tree of martyrdom that flowers and fruits in every season in Kashmir, wherefrom the fragrance of the blood of Kashmiris, their unmarked graves, their un-concluded trial, their un-returned missing, their undressed wounds of rape, fill the heavenly land of Kashmir with the air of remorse, and this same air is breathed by those across the fence too. All the grief and anger associated to this, define the path and destiny of Kashmir – Freedom.
Nevertheless, Pakistan should consider the 66 years and three generations post 1947 and appreciate the distinct Kashmir-narrative that has evolved in its people, which may or may not be independent of Pakistan. We must consider that perhaps the new generation of Kashmir does not necessarily acknowledge the historical attachment and tends to see things in the perspective of the Present. India must have certainly used this time to disintegrate, infiltrate and diffuse the pure Pak/Kashmir narrative, and today one finds some politicians and political activists asserting the No-Pakistan or even Anti-Pak narrative.
Therefore, perhaps it is time for Pakistan to strive for an independent Kashmir, with all the reins of its power in the hands of Kashmiris themselves. Pakistan must approve of the fact that perhaps the test of time has brought out a Kashmiri youth that is much more mature, opinionated and clear on their perspective than any youth around the globe. The survival for Pakistan, then, is not in hegemony, but only in brotherhood. Perhaps our best policy of Kashmir is the same as we espouse for Afghanistan – a strong, balanced, happy and developing neighbor.
The future of this region does not lie in capture and dictation; rather the future lies in a regional block of Pak/Kash/Afgn, with a complimentary foreign policy, a mutually beneficial trade policy, and promotion of culture and an Aman ki Aasha within. Pakistan must realize its position as the peace-giver of this geographically and religiously fated regional block, and must work to create a foreign policy that would help cement the backs of each of these nations in a way that foreign occupation must become a permanently unfulfilled dream for the brutal aggressors.
Just out of sheer curiosity…. if India were to hand over Kashmir to Pakistan – what would the Kashmiris get?
1. No electricity
2. Religious intolerance
3. Army rule
4. Displaced Kashmiri Pundits would not be allowed back
5. End of Kashmiri secularism
Unless I’m mistaken, and Pakistan can actually offer something better?? And don’t say Islam !! That crock of rubbish to do with religion did not work with Bangladesh and it sure isn’t going to work here.
if endia does not handover kashmire to pakistan then they get killing rapes and others now tell me the life is more important or other things which you mention ??? dont fool us we know how much does poor india have they occupied us illegally and killing us we kashmire does not want your electricity or other things we want our azadi like you want azadi in 1947 from british rule
before 1947 your same like us(Kashmiries) but now you have power you doing a same thing which British army do with you if your azadi is mandatory and is for right then why you don’t giving us a freedom ?? why you become like British army for us ?? if you successfully get freedom from British raj with help of Muslims then inshallah we also get freedom from you with the help of Pakistan

You don’t sound like a Kashmiri – and stop pretending to be one.
“kashmire” indeed !!
So you really mean to say that the whole of India enjoys 1) 24/7 electricity, 2) religious rights, 3) absolute democracy, 4) secularism as well as 5) the right to return for all Kashmiri and Gujarati Muslims? Whom are you trying to fool other than yourself?
The world outside might not know much about electricity and load shedding in ‘Shining India’, but it sure does know enough about the maximum religious tolerance in Kashmir and Gujarat, the special powers given to the army when dealing with Kashmiris who are supposed to be part of an ‘atoot ang’, and the reality about religious rights and secular ideals in Bhaarat Mahaan. Not to mention the news of rapes of buffaloes and gangrapes of minor girls.
Well by any measure India is far ahead of pakistan when it comes to development and that is something you can never deny… Well I agree that rapes are frequent in the news nowadays… But atleast here in India it gets ‘reported’ and actions gets taken.. Unlike in your porkistan, where the victims are blamed and majority of the cases are not even reported because of hostile attitude towards the victims..
These are not my words neighbour.. Check the dawn newspaper edition 2 days ago.. They have reports on ‘rapes in pakistan’ 🙂
brother jeeth…..i am not sure what happiness u get by blaming rapes hapenning in any country…rape is same india or pakistan…but now if we talk about kashmir…as a kashmiri i will tell you why we want to be with pak…india form past few decades have gave us many thing…..
rapes, fake encounters…disappearances…..unmarked graves……orphans…widows…homeless……
we want safety of our lives which we dont thing will be in kashmir unless seven lakh indian tropps are present here establishing draconian and tyrant regime……….iNDIA IS STEALING OUR RESOURCES……OUR CULTURE, RELEGION,PROPERTY, TRADITION, SAFETY OF LIVES IS NOT SAFE IS NOT SAFE AT ALL…WE HAVE EXPERIANCED ALL THESE THINGS FORM PAST FEW DECADES…BUT V WILL RISE …BECOZ WE FIGHT FOR OUR GENIUNE RIGHT…AND KASHMIRIS MUST BE GIVEN THEIR FREESOM…THERE AZADI..THEIR PAKISTAN
G WAY G WAY PAKISTAN.
Z.BHAT (kashmiri war child)
Dear Sister in Islam,
Asalam u alikum wrt
You have touched the genuine points here as what should be the policy of Pakistan towards Kashmir and what it should do in near future and plus a various other points.
I hereby want some points to be discussed with you:
1. Time for Pakistan to strive for an independent Kashmir! A shocking statement on your behalf. It means that we are now hopeless and we have forgotten the sacrifices of those martyrs, who just left their all for only one thing i.e Pakistan se Rishta Kya…La illaha illallah. Even by such statement we are forgetting the golden words of Qaid e Azam that Kashmir is our Jugular Vien. So now you are saying that let the Jugular vien be set free.
2. Independent Kashmir is a mirage both for those new age Kashmiris and rest of the people who think, that only solution is independent kashmir. No ways. It is a hostile condition here. China,India,Pakistan,Russia and even USA have their interests in Kashmir. So a free Kashmir is somehow impossible when you are between the nuclear powers who are in need of various sources especially water.
3. Dear Sister, please don’t get swayed away by a bunch of people whom you see blabbering online on social networking sites, executing “plans”; giving thoughts to world and trying to be intellectuals. Such people are just either the politically motivated crooks or kids portraying themselves to be mature. Listen to the voices of lakhs, who work on ground surface, for whom survival without Pakistan is a dream. You must watch the love for green flags all over Kashmir and not the blabbering of a few on Twitter and facebook.
4.No to hegemony but to brotherhood. So that brotherhood lies in Pakistan se Rishta kya. So simple. As neighbours, Kashmir is not supposed to be a neighbour but a part. Remember Qaid e Azam golden words and the sacrifices of Lakhs of people.
5. I accept that let Pakistan be a peace giver but my dear sister, have you ever thought that the enemies of Islam and Muslims, will accept your peace treaty. No ways! Their main aim is to destroy Muslim nations, kill Muslims. So, seeking peace from the enemies is no wisdom. They know only one langauge that is of hatred. Let Pakistan start with withdrawing from Azaad Kashmir, and world will see, India will be there the second day. We love to spread peace, but they only know how to get that PIECE also.
6. Lastly, Don’t despair and never lose hope. Allah is the best of planners.
Dear sister, your this article left me saddened, what if the people of Pakistan leave us! what will happen to this paradise on earth. Then we should wait for Modi for experimenting another Genocide on the land of Kashmir.
God bless Pakistan.Kashmir Zindabaad, Pakistan Paindabaad. (With tears rolling down down on my cheeks)
Thank you very much dear brother in Islaam. I sincerely appreciate this comment of yours. We, the people living outside of Kashmir, usually don’t know much about the reality of sentiments in Kashmir. I, myself, have been thinking for a long time that the Kashmiris actually wish for independence and it is the Pakistanis who want to take advantage of the situation and reoccupy their land. It was educative and much needed to know that the people of Kashmir actually love Pakistan and want to be a part of it.
May Allaah bless you and help you in your struggle. Aameen.
yup exactly Bombed man, how about you yell your India to give up its independence for free-electricity deal with someone…
So you really mean to say that the whole of India enjoys 1) 24/7 electricity, 2) religious rights, 3) absolute democracy, 4) secularism as well as 5) the right to return for all Kashmiri and Gujarati Muslims? Whom are you trying to fool other than yourself?

Umair your concerns seem genuine, and Pakistan should be the happiest country to have Kashmir, for whom hundred and thousands of Pakistanis are sacrificing their resources and even lives, as its own part, and that is why blocking together is an inevitable solution, nevertheless if the Kashmiris unanimously vote for becoming a part of Pakistan, nothing can stop that from happening inshaAllah
Can sister Aneela Shahzad answer my queries, please?
Kashmir is not an itegral part of india , and Never ever it can be integral part of india rather it is more Part of Pakistan , by blood , culture , relegion, geographical and in every way. kashmir peoples future is realted with Pakistan. look at the Azad jammu & kashmir of Pakistan most peaceful beautiful land of Pakistan. yes Pakistan is going through some problems , that happens in every country but Pakistan is far more better than İndia in every way. kashmiries know very well.Pakistan fought 3 wars for kashmir brothers ,gave every secrifies for them.
kashmir people must realise this.
kashmir banega Pakistan inşallah.
29/12/2018 we will hit u again inshallah.
