LAHORE: Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the president of PTI Punjab, stated on Wednesday that the country’s vote for the party-endorsed candidates in the general election on February 8th was a rejection of the “May 9 narrative.”
Speaking to media in an antiterrorism court after being released from jail to appear in May 9 violence cases against her and other PTI officials, Ms. Rashid said that the people’s mandate had been stolen on February 9, the day after the elections.
The PTI leader criticized Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, claiming that the former’s announced Ramazan package was insufficient for the province’s impoverished citizens.
She stated that during Ms. Nawaz’s first address on the assembly floor, she went into great detail on the health card program but disregarded the poverty of residents who couldn’t afford to feed their kids.
She mocked Ms. Nawaz, saying, “The princess has no knowledge of people’s miseries.” “Having worked for 35 years in a government hospital, I am familiar with the concept of poverty.”
Ms. Rashid claimed those who lost in Form 45 won in Form 47, alleging that the daughter of a three-time prime minister was elected to the parliament through electoral manipulation.
The court had earlier postponed until March 7 the hearing of three cases involving PTI officials and activists.
The court was also presented with the incarcerated Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, the former province minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, and the former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema.
