DERA GHAZI KHAN: In Taunsa Sharif city, three people—including a child—died after slipping into a manhole close to Tub Road.
According to reports, two villagers named Ghulam Farid and Amanullah entered the manhole to save a toddler named Noman who had fallen inadvertently but was not able to escape.
The three bodies have been moved by Rescue 1122 to the hospital at the Taunsa Sharif tehsil headquarters. According to others, the manhole lids were opened by surrounding landlords so they could irrigate their crops.
The illegal practice of using toxic sewage water for irrigation was brought to the attention of the administration by local residents on multiple occasions. However, the administration did not take any action against the responsible farmers or landlords. Three deaths have been reported, and Commissioner DG Khan Division Dr. Nasir Mahmood Bashir has directed the DC to visit the scene.
In DG Khan, using sewage water for irrigation is standard procedure. Gaddai Union Council farmers have long been irrigating their land with sewage water.
