GAZA STRIP: After Israeli forces concluded a two-week offensive targeting what was once Gaza’s largest medical facility, all that remained of the Al-Shifa hospital complex on Monday was a stretch of burned buildings and a graveyard full of bodies.
Following intense Israeli airstrikes and tank fire, the Gaza health ministry reported that “the scale of the destruction inside the complex and the buildings around it is very large.”
The Al-Shifa medical complex has yielded several remains, some of which are deteriorated, and the hospital has been declared “completely out of service.”
Hundreds of people raced back to assess damage and look for personal things, some of whom had been taking refuge in the hospital before the Israeli raid.
A number of medical professionals and bystanders at the destroyed facility informed AFP that at least 20 bodies had been discovered, some of which looked as though they had been run over by military trucks.
A number of them were discovered near the complex’s west entrance, which the Israeli army utilized on Monday when it left the hospital grounds.
“The tanks passed above them.” Destroying. Kids. Those without sin. citizens without weapons. One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “They (soldiers) went over them.” A correspondent observed one horribly decayed body with tire tracks on it.
The Al-Shifa hospital was left in ruins when the Israelis left; windows had been blown out, the concrete walls had turned black, and volunteers were dragging shrouded corpses over the sandy plain.
According to the Gaza media office, 400 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces near Al-Shifa, including a doctor’s wife and her son. The medical facility was also destroyed. Israeli reaction was nonexistent at the outset. Inside the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, every building was destroyed and set on fire by the invaders. The location was transformed into a mass graveyard when they destroyed the courtyards and buried dozens of martyrs’ remains beneath the debris, according to Ismail Al-Thawabta, the media office director.
“A crime against humanity, this is.”
According to a representative for Gaza’s Civil Emergency Service, Israeli forces utilized bulldozers to excavate the complex’s grounds and execute two individuals whose bodies were discovered there in handcuffs.
Unverified footage from social media that Reuters could not verify appeared to show bodies strewn around the burned-out hospital, much of whose outside walls were missing. Some of the dead were covered in filthy blankets. It showed a lot of terrain that had been ploughed up and many of the structures outside the site burned destroyed or were flattened.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israel’s unrelenting aggression has killed at least 32,845 individuals, the majority of whom were women and children.
