KARACHI: The nation’s total oil sales reached 1.27 million tons in September, up 5% month over month and 20% annually.
Arif Habib Ltd (AHL) reports that gasoline sales increased 2 percent to 0.63 million tonnes in September from 0.62 million tonnes in August, with a 22 percent year-over-year increase.
High-speed diesel (HSD) saw an 8 percent increase to 0.49 million tonnes from 0.46 million tonnes in August. On the other hand, year over year, HSD sales increased by 25%.
Furnace oil (FO) sales saw a decline but recovered by 5% to 0.07 million tons in September. However, they were still 18% lower year over year.
In 1QFY25, total oil sales decreased by 3% to 3.68 million tonnes from 3.81 million tonnes in 1QFY24.
While HSD sales fell by 1% to 1.42 million tonnes in 1QFY25 from 1.44 million tonnes in 1QFY24, gasoline sales stayed fixed at 1.85 million tonnes.
Because of a drop in power generation, FO sales decreased by 39 percent in 1QFY25 to 0.21 million tonnes from 0.35 million tonnes in 1QFY24.
In contrast to the current prices of Rs247.03 and Rs246.29 per litre, petrol and diesel were retailing for Rs275.6 and Rs283.63 per litre on July 16.
The desire for automobiles has declined due to high pricing; yet, sales of gasoline and diesel have increased month over month.
