ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet will convene on Wednesday under the call of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and significant decisions are expected to be made.
Reorganizing the nation’s accountability courts is one of nine significant problems that will be covered in the meeting, as per Dawn’s agenda.
According to a government source who spoke to Dawn, several accountability courts have become unnecessary because the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has lost its teeth and many of its cases have been transferred to other anti-graft watchdogs like the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The administration plans to restructure its judges to other courts and decrease the number of accountability courts under a proposal that will be debated at the cabinet meeting.
The restructuring of accountability courts is one of the items on the agenda for the federal cabinet meeting.
The Federal Public Private Partnership (P3) Policy of Pakistan 2023-24, which sought to facilitate investment in various industries, is another significant agenda item that the cabinet is expected to adopt.
The National Institute of Modern Sciences and Federal Education & Professional Training proposed bill would also be decided upon at the conference.
It is anticipated to accept the Cote d’Ivoirean government’s granting of a foreign award for Foreign Affairs Services to Ambassador Manzoor Ahmad Chaudhry.
Additionally, Special Court-II (Anti-Terrorism), Islamabad, will be designated by the cabinet to hear matters pertaining to the Official Secrets Act of 1923.
The appointment of a Federal Inspector of Drugs (FID) and the scope of his authority under the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) are expected to be approved by the meeting.
The meeting will also see the approval of a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Labor, Qatar, and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
Additionally, it is likely that the meeting will approve the decisions made by the cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) at its meeting on April 4.
