The military’s media affairs wing announced on Thursday that eight terrorists had been killed following the execution of an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan province.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a press release stating that the operation was carried out last night due to the “reported presence of terrorists in the area.”
Eight terrorists were allegedly “sent to hell” as a result of a fierce gunfight that broke out during the operation between Khawarij and the security forces, according to the press statement.
The government designated the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al Khawarij in July through an official notification, although the statement did not specify which terrorist group was responsible for the attack. Additionally, the notification mandated that all institutions refer to terrorists who attack Pakistan with the term khariji, which means “outcast.”
A month later, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of ISPR, had affirmed the same.
The ISPR statement added in its press release today that “weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the deceased terrorist, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and targeted innocent civilians as well.”
“As security forces are committed to eliminating the threat of terrorism from the nation, sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any additional Kharji found in the area,” it continued.
Mohsin Naqvi, the interior minister, praised the security services for eliminating terrorists in the interim.
Naqvi stated that the security forces acted promptly to remove the terrorists in a post on the Interior Ministry’s X account.
He proclaimed, “Salute to the brave soldiers of the security force.”
Attacks against security personnel, law enforcement organizations, and security checkpoints have increased dramatically in Pakistan recently, especially in Balochistan and KP.
Following the TTP’s 2022 breach of a precarious ceasefire agreement with the government and its threat to target security forces, attacks intensified.
In August, security forces in the province’s Bajaur region stopped an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, resulting in the deaths of five terrorists and three slain troops.
When four terrorists attempted to storm the Frontier Corps headquarters in the Mohmand region of KP on September 6, they were slain.
On September 20, during two confrontations in the areas of North and South Waziristan, twelve militants were killed and six soldiers were murdered.
