KARACHI: The Ministry of Textile Industry is seeking proposals from the industry in creating curriculum for the upcoming Prime Minister’s Skill Development Programme.
In a meeting with members of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Wednesday, Ministry of Textile Industry’s Joint Secretary, Rubina Wasti said Rs4.4 billion has been allocated by the government for the five-year skill development programme.
A stipend of Rs8,000 per month would be given to each trainee and more than 50 per cent of participants in this programme would be women, she added.
For effective implementation of the programme, the ministry needs guidance and proposals from the industry so that the programme is tailored according to industry’s needs, she said.
KATI president Zahid Saeed said trained and skilled manpower was a perquisite for fast industrial growth.
