KYIV: President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday that he will be present at an international conference next week in Germany to talk about providing military assistance to Ukraine.
Over fifty allies of Ukraine, including US President Joe Biden, are due to attend the military gathering at the US air station in Ramstein, close to Frankfurt.
He said on social media, “We are getting ready for the 25th Ramstein meeting on October 12, which will be the first to take place at the leaders’ level.”
Zelensky declared that “the determination of our partners and the strengthening of Ukraine” could stop Russia, and he would offer “clear, concrete steps towards a just end of the war.”
Zelensky attended the final meeting in September, held in Ramstein as well, and he made a demand for more arms to stave off Russian forces that were moving forward.
The meeting will take place just before the US election, which might turn against Kyiv and its largest ally, making it a pivotal moment for the country.
Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has long criticized the US government for providing Ukraine with billions of money and has adopted Russian talking points over the situation.
In the meantime, Ukraine has increased the pressure on its allies in the West to grant it permission to employ long-range missiles that it has been handed to strike military targets located deep within Russia. This year, Russian forces have been progressively moving into eastern Ukraine, outnumbering and outgunning Ukrainian forces.
