KABUL: “U.S. Embassy Kabul has received credible reports of an imminent attack in Kabul City, Kabul Province, Afghanistan within the next 48 hours,” according to a statement released by the embassy on Monday.
The embassy urges its citizens to exercise extreme caution while moving around the city during this period.
“During this period of heightened threat, the U.S. Embassy strongly urges U.S. citizens to exercise extreme caution if moving around the
city. There were no further details regarding the targets, timing, or method of the planned attack,” the statement adds.
The statement further states that the security situation in Afghanistan is extremely unstable, and the threat to all U.S. citizens in Afghanistan remains critical.
The embassy urges U.S. citizens currently visiting or residing in Afghanistan to consider departing and those who decide to remain in
Afghanistan to review your personal security plans, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal safety, remain aware of your surroundings, monitor local media for updates, and maintain a high level of vigilance.
