KARACHI: Unknown gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on a military vehicle in Karachi on Tuesday, killing two security personnel.
The gun attack took place near Parking Plaza in Saddar.
According to police, unidentified armed men riding motorcycles targeted two personnel of a sensitive agency near Saddar Parking Plaza and escaped.
The injured personnel were rushed to hospital, where they succumbed to their wounds.
Dr Seemi Jamali, Director Emergency Department at Jinnah Hospital, confirmed the death of both the personnel identified as Abdul Razzaq and Khadim Hussain.
Rangers and police teams reached the scene, cordoned off the area and launched investigations.
Karachi police chief Mushtaq Mehr also visited the crime scene.
“We are trying to obtain CCTV footage in order to find clues about the assailants,” he said.
In a press statement, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad condemned the attack and termed it a conspiracy to create unrest in the city.
This is the second attack on intelligence agencies in Karachi in six months. In December last year, two personnel of Military Police were killed in a similar attack near Tibet Center
