A STORY that the TTP praised Ali Amin Gandapur on being nominated to be the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been disproven as untrue.
On February 13, 2024, a user on social media platform X—who seemed to be a supporter of the PML-N based on his previous posts—shared a photograph of an alleged TTP statement praising PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur on his candidacy as the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“TTP’s message felicitated Ali Amin Gandapur on receiving the nomination as CM KPK by the political branch of Taliban, with a belief that they will get comfort and assistance from the KPK Govt in achieving their desires,” a regional PPP official wrote beside the same photo.

The iVerify Pakistan group got in touch with veteran journalist Tahir Khan to look into the letter that was disseminated, and Khan then called the TTP to get confirmation.
TTP spokesman Mohammad Khorasani claimed the letter was a forgery and disputed its veracity.
The letter was described in the analysis of Abdul Sayed, a TTP researcher based in Sweden, as “obviously phony for at least a pair of causes: Normally, TTP uses its official internet channels to publicize announcements, but there isn’t any mention of this statement there.
Furthermore, this statement’s phrasing and organization differ from TTP’s official pronouncements.
This fact check was released in collaboration with iVerify Pakistan, a CEJ and UNDP initiative.
