LAHORE: On Monday, a court against terrorism granted post-arrest release to three individuals who are suspected of harassing a woman in Ichhra bazaar for donning a shirt featuring Arabic script print.
The accused, Muhammad Nadeem, Adil Sarwar, and Altimash Saqlain, were taken into custody by the police.
The accused were denied further custody to the police and were placed in jail on judicial remand last week by the court.
The accused’ attorneys claimed that the police had just detained their clients in order to demonstrate their performance to the government and requested their release on bond.
The accused’ bail petitions were granted by Judge Arshad Javed, provided that each surety bond submitted was for Rs 100,000.
In addition, the judge dismissed the pre-arrest bail requests of Maulana Aleemuddin Shakir and Khalid Shehansha, noting that they had been withdrawn in view of the police’s discharge report.
A woman was accused of blasphemy in the Inchhra bazaar by dozens of religiously motivated individuals who mistook Arabic lettering on her clothing for passages from the Quran, according to the formal complaint, which was filed a week after the incident. The woman was also threatened with death by the mob.
ASP Sheharbano Naqvi’s police team, on the other hand, saved the woman and took her to a police station.
Jinnah House
A five-day physical remand of a recently detained suspect who was an absconder in the Jinnah House attack case was granted to Sarwar Road police on Monday by an anti-terrorism court.
Tayyab Gulzar, the suspect, was brought before the court by the police, who also requested a 14-day remand.
According to the investigating officer, the suspect fled and the court had labeled him a proclaimed criminal. He added the guy was been taken into custody by the police.
Responsibility The suspect was placed under physical remand for five days by Judge Arshad Javed, who also ordered the police to bring him back on March 30.
