Washington: According to the Pentagon, US and British jets launched several raids on Houthi locations on Saturday, targeting sophisticated weapons storage facilities in Yemen.
According to the Pentagon, the installations housed a variety of armaments that were used to target both military and civilian ships traveling through international seas in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Three American and British raids on the southern Al Sabeen sector of the capital Sanaa were reported by the Al Masirah television network.
According to Al Masirah, “Eyewitnesses reported hearing intense flying and explosions in various parts of the capital Sanaa.”
Since January, the United States and the United Kingdom have launched numerous attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen in retaliation for the rebels’ attacks on commerce in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
According to the rebels, the strikes, which have halted shipping in a vital waterway for the world, are directed at ships associated with Israel and are meant to show support for Palestinians in the Gaza conflict.
Four sailors have been killed and two ships have sunk in more than 100 Huthi attacks in almost a year, while one ship and her crew are still in custody after being taken hostage last November.
Three days after Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Huthi criticized US President-elect Donald Trump for backing Israel, Saturday’s strikes took place.
He claimed that Trump’s attempts to broker normalization agreements between Israel and the Arab world had not succeeded in ending the Middle East conflict and that he would fail once more during his second term.
