For the first time, a Hindu woman from Sindh’s Tharparkar district has announced to contest the general elections.
Sunita Parmar, a member of the Meghwar community, has filed her nomination papers for the Sindh Assembly seat in Islamkot, PS-56.
She will run for the seat as an independent candidate, representing the desert region’s poor and deprived people.
Parmar, whose only source of a livelihood for her family is a sewing machine, submitted Rs20,000 along with the nomination papers.
