QUETTA: Security forces on Saturday claimed to have foiled a major terror bid in the province by arresting two militants from Balochistan’s Zhob district.
One suspected militant was also killed when he blew himself up during an exchange of fire with security forces.
The spokesperson for Frontier Corps (FC), Khan Wasey, said security forces and personnel of intelligence agencies conducted a joint operation in Kakhao area of district Zhob and laid siege to a militants’ hideout.
The militants opened fire at the raiding personnel to which they retaliated. One militant blew himself up while two others were arrested and were under investigation, he added.
The FC spokesman claimed that a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of militants, adding that they were planning a major terror activity in the area.
Balochistan has been experiencing incident violence and targeted killings for more than a decade. The largest province of the country by area, is home to a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists.
