MARDAN: A student lost his life while five others were injured on Thursday during a clash at Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan.
The clash took place around afternoon, in which students resorted to firing and vandalism.
The deceased student has been identified as Mashaal, enrolled at the university’s Mass Communication department.
The dead body of the student was shifted to a hospital, where it will undergo post-mortem.
Mashal khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan was killed and another injured by a vigilante mob for alleged blasphemy.
A mob of university students first surrounded Abdullah and forced him to recite verses from the Holy Quran. Although he repeatedly denied the accusation that he was an Ahmadi, the students beat him nonetheless.
The police, when alerted, reached the site of the attack and rescued Abdullah, after which the mob set its sights on Mashal, who was in the hostel at the time, the eyewitness said.
Mashal was beaten and shot by the mob, succumbing to his injuries.
Police have not yet registered a case of the incident. Police arrested 20 people in relation to the murder probe.
Following the violent incident, the university’s Garden Campus has been shut down for an indefinite time period, according to the administration.
