LAHORE: Former president Dr. Arif Alvi said on Monday that the six judges of the Islamabad High Court, who have charged that the nation’s intelligence services have meddled in legal matters, should be commended for their bravery.
Speaking at a legal convention, he expressed his concern that the nation had captured the judges’ private conversations and daily lives on camera. He claimed that the law of Allah Almighty is more important to him than the Constitution.
Mr. Alvi regretted that people had once ridiculed the idea of establishing a welfare state based on Riasat-i-Madina and emphasized the need for such an endeavor. Pakistan must become the Pakistan of the Quaid-i-Azam, he declared. “We should practice justice, as Islam teaches it.”
Senator-elect Hamid Khan expressed his gratitude to the judges of the IHC on this occasion and reassured them that the nation’s attorneys supported them.
He stated that the administration of justice cannot succeed in the absence of an impartial judiciary and that all high court judges must possess the same bravery as those in Islamabad. He asked, “Are all judges not seeing the oppression?”
Hamid Khan stated that the judges were the center of attention for the country and that Pakistan’s top justice ought to have enquired as to who was applying pressure to the justices. He said that the chief justice ought to take advantage of the chance to join the judges on their feet.
“Now is the time for us to unite as a nation,” stated Salman Akram Raja, a Member of the Sunni Ittehad Council. He demanded an open inquiry into the judges’ correspondence.
According to Mr. Raja, it is reasonable to claim that the judges were operating in terror.
Additionally, convention attendees organized a protest gathering outside GPO Chowk to show support for the judges who sent the letter to the members of the Supreme Judicial Council.
