On Wednesday, the Lahore police nabbed a man and saved six youngsters from being abused.
The young boys were being molested in a private inn when the police squad conducted a search operation led by the Data Darbar station house officer (SHO), who also arrested a suspect. This information was provided by a police spokeswoman.
Captain Qazi Ali Raza, a retired member of the City Superintendent of Police, stated that the suspect sedated the kids before recording them for illegal purposes. He said that a complaint had been filed against the suspect and that raids were being conducted to apprehend the accomplices.
“There is a zero-tolerance policy against those who abuse and sexually exploit children and women in light of the orders of the Punjab Chief Minister,” he declared.
A certificate of appreciation was also announced for the Data Darbar SHO and his crew on the successful operation, the police statement continued.
Data gathered earlier this year by Sahil, an NGO that advocates for children’s rights, revealed that 11 children were assaulted daily in 2023, with the majority of the horrible deeds being committed by friends and family.
As per the report, 4,213 incidences of child abuse were reported in 2023, originating from all four provinces, the Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. incidents of child marriage, kidnapping, child missing, and child sexual abuse were among the total number of recorded incidents.
An examination of the data by gender revealed that, of all cases reported, 2,251 (or 53%) were victims who were girls, and 1,962 (or 47%) were boys. According to the age range recorded, boys were more likely than girls to experience abuse between the ages of 6 and 15 years old.
Furthermore, 0–5-year-old children were also victims of sexual abuse. According to the report’s abuser category, acquaintances, along with family members, relatives, strangers, and women who assist them, continue to be the most common parties involved in child sexual abuse.
The survey also revealed that, of the 4,213 instances that were reported, 75% came from the capital region of Islamabad, 13% from Sindh, 5% from Punjab, 3% from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2% each from Balochistan, AJK, and GB.
