KARACHI: On Monday, the Sindh High Court ordered the government to prosecute anyone engaged in the illicit production of metal strings used in kite flying.
The Karachi commissioner and other defendants received notices from a two-judge panel led by Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi for April 24.
In his appeal, Advocate Shahmir Baloch included the commissioner, the home department, the police, and other respondents along with his grievances regarding the illicit production of steel strings used for kite flying.
He stated that numerous of these occurrences had resulted in serious injuries to a number of people, and he requested a directive from the respondents to take action against the dishonest individuals engaged in these abhorrent crimes.
The Additional Advocate General told the bench that the commissioner had already put a stop to such acts, waived the notice, and requested a copy of the petition.
“Specific instructions may be requested in this regard, and it is anticipated that those involved in the illicit production of steel strings for kite flying may face legal action; comply on the subsequent hearing date,” the bench said.
Additionally, it instructed the respondents to submit any comments or objections they may have before the next hearing, along with a copy to the petitioner’s attorney.
