LAHORE: Senior photojournalist Azhar Hussain Jafri passed away here on after a prolonged illness.
According to Jafri’s son Aun Jafri the 62-year-old photo-journalist had his open-heart surgery two months ago.
His son said that Jafri’s funeral prayers will be offered after Friday prayers at Journalist Housing Society Harbanspura.
Azhar Jafri was a renowned photo-journalist who took memorable pictures during his career.
In Ziaul Haq’s time, when police baton-charged PPP protesters and Late Nusrat Bhutto, Jafri captured a picture of her covered in blood.
The senior photo-journalist was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz during tenure of Asif Ali Zardari as president.
He served as a chief photographer for Daily Dawn.
Azhar Jafri left behind one son and two daughters.
