Pride of Performance-winning TV actor Iftikhar Qaiser passed away after a long illness in Peshawar today, according to a DawnNews report.
The renowned actor had been suffering from diabetes for a prolonged period. After his health severely deteriorated a few days ago, he was admitted to the the ICU of Lady Reading Hospital, where he had been undergoing dialysis on a daily basis. When his health did not improve, doctors conducted some further tests, but the actor succumbed to his illness this morning. According to his doctors, both his kidneys had failed.
Iftikhar Qaiser’s funeral prayers will be offered at Haji Camp in Peshawar and he will buried in his family graveryard.
Iftikhar Qaiser launched his acting career in his early teens from a play of PTV, Peshawar centre. He will be remembered as a versatile actor who performed in hundreds of Hindko, Pashto and Urdu plays. With an acting career spread over 45 years, he had amassed a large fan following. He was awarded the President’s Pride of Performance for his immense contribution to performing art.
