LAHORE: The PTI’s political committee declared on Wednesday that it would reject the proposed constitutional modifications and demanded that people across demonstrate against the package and the imprisonment of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, on Friday.
“All local and regional organizations are directed to stage loud yet nonviolent demonstrations at all district offices following Friday prayers. Complete unanimity to reject any effort by the administration to modify the Constitution in a way that would distort it,” the party declared.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s daughter, Meher Bano Qureshi, who is currently detained, tweeted that her sister-in-law, MNA Zain Qureshi’s wife, “has been picked up from near our home by masked men in plain clothes and multiple cars.”
“Two cars blocked her car and took her away forcefully,” she continued. They are now using such low-level techniques because they have been unable to break us for the past 1.5 years despite numerous threats.
The president of the PTI’s Punjab chapter, Hammad Azhar, responded angrily to the claims that the “fascist regime” had kidnapped Zain Qureshi’s wife, calling for nationwide rallies to take place following Friday prayers.
In a video address, he declared, “The time has come to save this country, to restore the supremacy of the rule of law and Constitution.” “After Friday prayers, no Pakistani should be in their homes.”
