ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet approved a proposal for the regulations of arms licenses for prohibited (automatic) weapons and lifting of a ban on non-prohibited bore arms license on Tuesday.
Only government departments will be allowed to keep automatic weapons, sources told this correspondent.
Sources further said that owners of automatic weapons will have the options to convert their weapon to semi-automatic or return it to the government in exchange for Rs 50,000.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, said the government is focusing on providing relief to the domestic and industrial power consumers.
The prime minister informed the Cabinet that several power projects are still in the implementation stage that would further enhance the generation capacity.
The Cabinet also accorded approval for the establishment of one bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal at Quetta. The Cabinet offered prayers for the martyrs of North Waziristan explosion that occurred today.
