RAWALPINDI: In a white paper on the aviation industry’s shortcomings, the Aircraft Owners and Operators Association (AOOA) asserts that a lack of professionalism led to problems with pilot licenses, which in turn resulted in the prohibition of Pakistani airlines from operating in EU nations.
One of the suggestions in the white paper, which explained the causes of the aviation industry’s decline and offered suggestions for improving it, was to post the appropriate people in the right professions.
The AOOA said that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had misinformed former aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan about the existence of several pilots with forged licenses because the CAA had not appreciated how delicate the situation was. Pakistani airlines were prohibited from operating in Europe and the US after it completely decimated the business.
“Now that it has been established that no forged licenses exist, the court has dismissed the pilots’ charges. The white paper claims that the current CAA director general is not even complying with court orders and is failing to repair the nation’s reputation, which is adding to the delays in lifting the ban on PIA and other airlines operating in the US and Europe.
It was disappointed that laws were passed without according to the correct procedure, which calls for consulting parliamentary committees to gather opinion from interested parties.
The AOOA recommended actions to boost revenue and make improvements, like leasing out underutilized airports to regional authorities. In order to stimulate the economy and create jobs, it also demanded that all expired air transport licenses held by airlines and other air operators be perpetually renewed.
The AOOA also recommended changing aviation laws to encourage business expansion, stop job losses, and preserve jobs. These changes would include doing away with excessive taxes, reassessing the DG’s authority, and rethinking age restrictions on aircraft imports.
