KARACHI: According to SITE Association of Industry (SAI) President Muhammad Kamran Arbi, the industries are unable to use boilers, furnaces, or other gas-run machinery because of low gas pressure, or nearly zero supply.
Since the SITE location is near the end of the SSGC distribution network, the low gas pressure issue has persisted for many years, according to a letter from the SAI chief to Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd Managing Director Imran Maniar.
The weekly shutdown of the SITE area for two days and the infusion of RLNG into the system have not resulted in a sufficient improvement in gas pressure for the area.
Mr. Arbi implored the head of SSGCL to acknowledge the situation right away and make plans to supply gas at the necessary pressure for the duration of the week.
He restated that in order to keep industry moving and fulfill export orders on schedule, gas with the necessary pressure must be provided.
gas shortage
Due to a scarcity of gas supplies in the system, SSGCL has stated that gas supplies will be discontinued to all industries, including their power generation units and all CNG stations in Sindh (including those operating on RLNG), from March 9 (8:00 am) to March 11 (8:00 am).
