Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday lauded the role of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in national security and said all institutions will continue to work cooperatively for ensuring the protection of masses and countering internal and external threats.
The primer was chairing a high-level meeting here to review the national security. The meeting was attended byInterior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI Lieutenant General Zaheerul-Islam, Secretary to PM Javaid Aslam, Additional Secretary to PM Fawad Hassan Fawad and special assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi.
Prime Minister lauded the contributions and sacrifices of ISI officers and personnel towards strengthening the defence of motherland. He emphasized the need of collaboration between all institutions of the country for protecting the people and coping with internal and external threats.
Prime Minister expressed apprehension over the recent terrorist attacks across the country and said that the terrorists won’t be allowed to play with innocent lives. He pledged that the government will restore peace to put the country on the path of economic development and prosperity.
During the meeting Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the participants about his last week’s meeting with Taliban and government negotiation teams.
All the participants supported the peace process with Taliban but stressed that it should take place under distinct parameters and have a succinct agenda. The participants also demanded immediate and stern action against the masterminds of recent terror attacks in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.
DG ISI briefed the participants of meeting about internal security situation, including in Karachi, Balochistan and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
