ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari demanded on Monday that the Transit Trade Agreement with Turkmenistan be completed as soon as possible in order to strengthen the two friendly nations’ bilateral ties.
When Atadjan Movlamov, the ambassador of Turkmenistan, paid him a visit at Aiwan-i-Sadr, the president shared similar opinions. After it is inked, Mr. Zardari claimed, the pact will support regional economic growth, trade expansion, and connectivity.
The President claims that all parties conveyed a wish to finish the TAPI Gas Pipeline as soon as possible. They said that doing so would help Pakistan satisfy its energy needs and boost the country’s economy.
During the ambassador’s welcome, the president stated that Pakistan has consistently placed a “special value” on its bilateral ties with Turkmenistan. Given the long-standing historical, religious, and cultural connections, this is the case. Zardari declared his intention to boost high-level discussions with Turkmenistan in order to revitalize bilateral relations.
He conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to strengthen “mutually beneficial cooperation” by working with Turkmenistan. The president emphasized that, in order to benefit both nations, the current level of trade between them deserves more attention.
The president remembered with nostalgia his trip to Turkmenistan in 2010 during his first time in office. In 2013, Mr. Zardari traveled to Turkmenistan for the fourth International Nauroz Festival and the TAPI Summit.
On President Zardari’s reelection, the embassy of Turkmenistan extended cordial wishes on behalf of both former President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He stated that the trade deal would create enormous transit trade activities for the entire area, going beyond the benefits to the two fraternal countries.
The president thanked them for their congratulations and sent his best wishes for Turkmenistan’s government.
