ISLAMABAD: President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a two-day state visit.
This first ever visit by a Belarusian president to Pakistan was at the request of President Mamnoon Hussain.
A series of official talks will be held by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with President Lukashenko and his delegation, followed by a luncheon and a banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary.
During the visit, a number of important agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed by the two countries, focusing on agricultural machinery, tractor plant and the dairy industry.
Due to the friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus, a resident mission was established by Belarus in Islamabad, last year November.
President Lukashenko’s visit is likely to help in strengthening the existing ties between the two countries.
