Pakistan and Turkey have stressed the need of a joint strategy to tackle the various challenges faced by Muslim Ummah.
This understanding was reached during a meeting between President Mamnoon Hussain and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Matters of bilateral ,regional and international issues of mutual concern were also discussed.
The two leaders also agreed to further strengthen the bilateral ties and cooperation in diverse areas including trade, economy, energy, and infrastructure.
Mamnoon Hussain appreciated Turkey for cooperation in the field of defence.The President reaffirmed Pakistan’s support on issues of vital importance to Turkey, including Northern Cyprus.
President will represent Pakistan at the 13th summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation commencing on Thursday.
Earlier, on arrival, the President was received by Turkey’s Minister for Economy Mustafa Alitash at Ataturk International Airport.
Besides addressing the conference during his three-day visit to Turkey, the President will also hold bilateral meetings with some leaders of the OIC member states.
The leaders of the Islamic world are expected to make decisions aimed at developing joint action and advancing the OIC’s role at the regional and international arenas.
This includes adoption of the OIC Programme of Action2016-2025, which constitutes a strategic vision with specific priorities addressing peace and security, terrorism, human rights, development, poverty alleviation, eradication of epidemics, and rights of women.
The summit, which is being held under the theme Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace, will also discuss the current situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, and Jammu and Kashmir.
