According to authorities on Tuesday, a Rangers inspector was shot and hurt by two armed robbers in Shaheed Benazirabad, resulting in his martyrdom.
In a statement, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shaheed Benazirabad’s office stated that the incident happened on Qazi Ahmed Road at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
“The suspect opened fire upon seeing [the inspector], Shariq Khan, the Ranger, who was going to deposit cash in Nawabshah City in the Potohar Jeep,” the document read.
It further stated that the inspector was injured by the shooting and was sent to PMC Hospital Nawabshah. However, while receiving treatment, he passed away from his wounds.
The notification further stated that a citizen had also had Rs. 410,000 in cash taken by the bandits.
When the robbery event happened, the inspector who was martyred was traveling with two other staff, according to Nawabshah Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tanveer Tunio, who spoke with Dawn.com.
SSP Tunio declared, “The police have apprehended the suspects and taken the looted cash from them.”
Mohsin Naqvi, the interior minister, paid respect to the inspector who was killed and sent his family his condolences.
He claimed that during the course of his work, Inspector Khan had attained the pinnacle of martyrdom.
