Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit the Federal Republic of Germany from Monday (today) at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel. This will be his second official visit in November.
According to the official itinerary, the prime minister would hold talks with Chancellor Merkel, followed by an official lunch in his honour. He will also meet President of the German Bundestag (Parliament) and address a Business Forum organised by the Pakistan Board of Investment.
Pakistan and Germany enjoy cordial relations. Germany is Pakistan’s fourth largest trading partner globally and the largest in the European Union. Pakistan’s bilateral trade with Germany stands at $2.5 billion annually.
The two countries have a strong collaboration in various other fields. There is also a strong Pakistani diaspora of over 70,000 living and working in the urban centres of Germany.
