ISLAMABAD: Body of former pop star Junaid Jamshed, who lost his life in PIA’s December 7 air crash, has been identified.
According to deputy commissioner Islamabad, Jamshed’s body was identified through dental history and face x-ray.
The singer-turned-religious scholar was travelling from Chitral to Islamabad in flight PK-661 when the aircraft crashed near Abbottabad, killing all 48 people on board.
Earlier, officials at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences handed the body of Junaid’s wife, Nahya Jamshed, to his relatives. As many as 12 bodies of the crash victims have so far been identified, and all results of the DNA profiling are expected to be received by December 17.
Meanwhile, reports suggested Jamshed’s funeral prayers will be held at religious seminary Darul Uloom Karachi.
