LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s executive committee Najam Sethi on Saturday said that the board will give fittingsendoffs to former captain Shahid Afridi and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.
“I will meet and discuss this with them next week”, he said on his twitter account.
Earlier reports had suggested that PCB has changed its mind about sending off Shahid Afridi on a high note.
The flamboyant all-rounder was dropped from the Pakistan T20 squad for the upcoming series against West Indies in UAE.
Afridi had recently said he wanted to retire on a high note but had never requested PCB to give him a farewell series before retiring from the game.
Reports had suggested earlier that PCB, on Afridi’s request, was considering including him for the West Indies series to make it a farewell series for him and provide him the opportunity to retire with the series.
However, Afridi had neither denied nor confirmed the reports.
Afridi, a veteran of 98 T20Is, had last year announced retirement from ODIs.
Earlier in 2010, he had quit Test cricket, but despite quitting Pakistan’s captaincy from T20s after World T20 this year, he insisted on continuing as a player in the shortest format.
