Ace of pace PCB terminated Haris Rauf’s core contract on Thursday, citing an investigation into his purported refusal to travel with Pakistan’s Test team to Australia in 2023–2024. The cricket board made this announcement in a press statement.
Chief selector Wahab Riaz had disclosed in November that Rauf had informed selectors he wished to concentrate on white ball cricket and control his workload, and he had declined to play in the Test tour of Australia.
Rauf has never committed to participating in the Test matches in Australia, according to an individual close to the player, which was reported by ESPNCricinfo. Rauf’s choice would “hurt Pakistan cricket,” according to Riaz.
The press release stated, “Haris’ central agreement has been ended from December 1, 2023, and no NOC (No objection certificate) for playing in any foreign league will be granted up to June 30, 2024, after an extensive hearing process handled by a PCB committee and taking into consideration the opinions of all stakeholders engaged in the matter.”
It stated that although the board had given Rauf an opportunity for an individual hearing in accordance with the natural justice principles, the board did not find his response to be adequate.
According to the PCB, “for any sportsperson, representing Pakistan is an unparalleled honor and privilege.”
It further stated, “It is a material breach of the central agreement to refuse to be a member of Pakistan’s Test squad without the presence of a medical report or a valid reason.”
