LAHORE: According to the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency on Thursday, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is incensed by the manner the board’s representatives have handled the injury of promising fast bowler Ihsanullah.
Ihsanullah, 21, made a significant impression with his pace in the Pakistan Super League last year. He then made his debut in two ODIs played at home against New Zealand and three T20 matches against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
However, he had an elbow injury following the New Zealand series, which prevented him from competing in the Asia Cup and World Cup.
Sadly, the child’s full recovery has not yet occurred due to a misdiagnosis of his condition and a poorly executed surgery in Lahore.
A PCB source claims that a senior physician on the board’s medical panel made the original diagnosis, which resulted in time being lost trying to heal him without surgery.
Following a failed surgery at a private hospital in Lahore, medical professionals at his PSL team, Multan Sultan, determined he needed to see a specialist in the UK.
The PCB has now granted franchise owner Ali Tareen permission to send Ihsanullah to London for additional consultation, but this has infuriated Naqvi, who feels that board members and the medical panel should have been in charge of providing the fast bowler with proper care.
“After this incident became public and he learned about it, Mohsin Naqvi is really furious. The source stated that there’s a good chance some of the officials in charge of overseeing Ehsan’s care won’t have jobs very soon.
In three matches against Afghanistan in Sharjah, Ihsanullah stunned everyone with his pace, taking six wickets at a very low cost.
