KARACHI: Pakistan’s shocking 2-0 series loss to low-ranked Bangladesh on Wednesday resulted in their poorest Test rating in almost 60 years, according to the International Cricket Council.
Bangladesh won their first series against Pakistan on Tuesday, defeating them by six wickets in the second Test in Rawalpindi.
Following a shocking series loss to Bangladesh at home, Pakistan fell two spots—from sixth to eighth—in the Test rankings, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The 12-team table, topped by Australia, India, and England, was described by the ICC as “their lowest rankings since 1965.”
Bangladesh is ranked ninth in the most recent list. Pacemaker Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped from ninth position to eleventh after the Bangladesh series, meaning that there are no longer any bowlers from Pakistan in the top ten.
The only Pakistani player still in the top 10 batting rankings is wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan; Babar Azam fell three spots to 12th.
Babar’s total for the two Test matches against Bangladesh was merely 64 runs.
