Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees human rights for all its citizens, Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has said in a keynote address at the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana during his visit to Kentucky.
This visit to Kentucky by the Consul General was part of his initiative aimed at reaching out to universities and think-tanks in Midwest to project a positive image of Pakistan.
Special presentations about Pakistan’s foreign policy and state of human rights in the country were presented at the Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana and world Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indian, respectively.
During his talk at Ivy Tech Community College, Tirmizi briefed the students and faculty about challenges being faced by Pakistan, and said the country was succeeding in combating terrorism.
The theme of Consul General’s talk at World Affairs Council of Kentucky, which is the biggest think tank in Tri-States of Ohio, Indian and Kentucky, was Human Rights and Socio-Economic Challenges in Pakistan.
Pakistan’s judiciary, he said, was independent and the media was free.
He said women in Pakistan were participating in every walk of life and enjoyed equal rights and privileges.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also spoke about the recent economic revival of Pakistan and its investment friendly policies, saying thar leading international publications, fund managers and rating agencies have acknowledged the country’s remarkable progress.
Consul General also offered Fateha at the grave of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who is buried in Louisville, Kentucky.
