A Pakistani diplomat serving at the consulate in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad city was shot dead on Monday evening, DawnNews reported.
According to reports, Nayyer Iqbal was shot six times while returning home after offering evening prayers.
Attaullah Khogyani, the spokesman for the provincial governor in Nangarhar, said the employee of Pakistan’s consulate was shot by two gunmen on a motorcycle in Jalalabad, the province’s capital.
The diplomat’s body has been shifted to a hospital in Jalalabad for postmortem examination.
Iqbal hailed from Sialkot and was working in the consulate’s visa section.
