ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan considers peace vital for promoting socio-economic stability and promoting a sense of security among societies.
Addressing an international seminar here on Wednesday‚ the president said that Pakistan stands firm for peace at regional and international level and would continue to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the entire world.
He said that Pakistan has always been at the forefront in complementing the peace efforts of the United Nations and has actively engaged in various peace missions. Pakistan’s commitment to international peace had been duly acknowledged by the international community in addition to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.
He said Pakistan has been contributing soldiers‚ policemen and civilians for peacekeeping in 41 countries over the last 53 years. On the occasion‚ the UN Resident Coordinator Timo Pakkala appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to the UN peacekeeping missions.
