UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan said on Saturday that there was ample evidence that India was carrying out state terrorism both overseas and in the region of Kashmir.
This was said by Pakistani ambassador Muhammad Faheem in front of the 193-member UN General Assembly in response to the charge made by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar that Pakistan supported terrorism.
The minister stated that it is necessary to expose and confront a dysfunctional country that is “coveting the lands of others.” He asserted that Azad Kashmir is the sole issue between the two nations that needs to be settled.
Mr. Jaishankar had accused Islamabad of adopting a policy of cross-border terrorism and protested against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for bringing up the Kashmir question in the General Assembly.
PM Shehbaz has demanded Israel and India to stop targeting innocent Palestinians and Kashmiris in his strong speech on September 28.
The prime minister had sent a strong warning to India, highlighting New Delhi’s threat to breach the Line of Control (LoC) and seize Azad Kashmir. The prime minister had declared, “Let me state, in no uncertain terms, that Pakistan will respond most decisively to any Indian aggression,” with a solid thump on the rostrum to bolster his statement.
“It is most ironic that India, which is committing the worst form of state terrorism in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir while also actively engaging in sponsoring terrorism abroad, is portraying itself as the victim,” Mr. Faheem said on Saturday during the exercise of his right of reply following the Indian minister’s speech.
“It is a familiar ploy of all occupiers and colonizers to paint legitimate struggles for freedom and liberation as terrorism,” stated Mr. Faheem, the third secretary of Pakistan’s embassy in the US. India incorrectly refers to the massive indigenous Kashmiri resistance movement as cross-border terrorism while ignoring its true scope.
“India must contemplate, consider, and promptly put into effect the Security Council resolutions that allow the Kashmiris to exercise their right to self-determination,” he declared.
Mr. Faheem demanded that India be held responsible for its transgressions of international law.
He emphasized that New Delhi’s campaign to undermine Pakistan’s economy was well-known, and it included blocking the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor by funding terrorist organizations like the Majeed Brigade and the Baloch Liberation Army. New Delhi also funds terrorism against Pakistan through its proxies.
He continued, saying, “India is also supporting terrorism in Balochistan.”
“India’s leaders openly brag of killing their citizens abroad, and assassination campaigns against its dissidents living abroad have been exposed in Canada and the United States.”
