Pakistan Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has called Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s statement regarding attacking Islamabad to bring back bring fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as ‘irresponsible and shameful’.
Modi had said if he wins the elections he would bring Ibrahim to India to be tried for the 1993 blasts in Mumbai.
According to Dawn News, he told a Gujarati news channel on Saturday that the previous administrations had not tried hard enough.
Modi also criticised Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar, saying political statements were not necessary for bringing back the Indian don.
Modi also questioned if US President Barack Obama held a press conference regarding US Navy Seals’ operation in Abbottabad for targeting al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden?
Responding to Modi’s criticism, India’s former home minister Chidambaram had said the government cannot send commandos to bring back Ibrahim.
Nisar in a statement said that Modi should first decide where Ibrahim was living and then should dream of attacking Pakistan.
He added that Modi seemed had not learnt a lesson from his ‘shameful’ actions as the chief minister of Gujrat, which earned him a bad name.
Khan said the statement from an expected Indian prime minister and leader of a major political party was provocative and condemnable showing enmity towards Pakistan.
Modi had crossed all limits in his enmity towards Pakistan and Muslims, and his election as Indian prime minister would destabilise the region, he added.
Khan said the efforts of the Pakistani government for peace in the region should not be construed as its weakness.

Well, tough times ahead in India pak relations. Modi is a man of action and believes in result. Cant say how good his govt will be in diplomacy but he wont beat around the bushes. Pakistan should have utilized Manmohan Singh’s leniency. I wont be surprized if India under Modi withdraws MFN status to Pakistan due to latter’s non reciprocity and take the relations back to square one.
