RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army officer was martyred and another was critically injured in an accident on the Motorway while they were travelling from Rawalpindi to Nowshera, the ISPR said.
“An officer, Lt Col Shahid embraced shahadat [martyrdom] while Maj Jalal got seriously injured on the Motorway,” said the military’s media wing.
According to the ISPR, the officers were going back to Nowshera from Rawalpindi in a military convoy this evening when they got off near Hazro to look for an alternate route and fell into a ditch.
“At around 2000 hrs, routes were blocked with containers, both officers got down from vehicles and were on foot to find an alternate route for convoy. In the dark of the night, both fell from the road edge into a ditch along the Motorway near Hazro,” said the ISPR statement.
Lieutenant Colonel Shahid died on the spot, while Major Jalal sustained serious injuries.
