He said the presence of President Mamnoon Hussain at the Defence Day ceremony was not only an encouragement for the officers and jawans of the air force, but will also serve as an inspiration for the people of Pakistan.
“The moment of moral and military victory is today our national asset, which shall ever remain in the annals of history as a shining example for all generations to come”, the president remarked.
He said the backbone of terrorists has been broken as a result of effective coordination amongst the armed forces and these elements will soon be wiped out.
“Today we are celebrating the golden jubilee of those memorable events, when our fearless armed forces not only successfully defended its frontiers but also thwarted the nefarious designs of the enemy”, he said, without specifying anyone. “Sons of soil proved Pakistan cannot be cowed down”, he added. “The government is conscious that professional readiness, determination and courage are guarantors of an independent nation”.
The Air Chief laid a floral wreath at the monument and offered fateha for the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 wars.
Air Chief Sohail Aman said the country would be purged of the menace of terrorism, after the completion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
“I wish to make it clear that we will protect the sovereignty and security of Pakistan at all cost”, he said. Though, we are a peace loving nation, but we know how to thwart the heinous attempts that disrupt our peaceful way of life and certainly, our strength is in this resolve.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, also inaugurated a Martyrs Monument at the PAF Museum.
The President expressed his pleasure over the splendid fly- past by the PAF pilots who manifested their resolve and passion for country’s defence besides their professionalism.
