Lahore: Almost 50 students have been awarded scholarships to conduct their research work on AIDS-related subjects. This announcement was made by the project Director of Punjab AIDS Control Programme (PACP) Dr Adnan Zafar.
He was speaking to the media after heading a meeting of scholars to appraise the received applications.
While talking to media sources that 44 applications for PhD while 76 applications for MPhil were received, adding that a committee of professionals was made for evaluation and sorting out the eligible candidates.
The PACP has awarded 20 PhD scholarships and 30 MPhil scholarships to the students, he added.
He furthermore said that PhD students will be paid Rs 40,000/-, whereas MPhil students will be paid Rs 20,000/- every month.
Adnan Zafar furthermore said that for the very first time in the history of the province, such a groundbreaking step had been taken for controlling HIV/AIDS.
The subjects chosen for research work involves micro biology, genetic, molecular biology, public health, medicines, virology, epidemiology, physiology, gender studies as well as pathology.’
