ISLAMABAD – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif said on Friday that highest state of operational readiness of the army has always acted as the best deterrence against the enemies of Pakistan.
He made these remarks during his visit to Corps Headquarters Multan on the eve of the Defence of Pakistan Day.
“Our ever readiness also to respond to any internal threat and disaster as a first responder, has been our hallmark,” the COAS added.
Earlier, the COAS was given detailed briefing on Operational, training and administrative matters of the corps. The COAS witnessed conduct of field training of an armoured formation in the ambit of corps operation, comprising elements of armour artillery, infantry, air defence and light commando battalion. Gen Raheel lauded the standard of training of the participating troops and underlined the need for use of modern technology to enhance the training standards with better economy of resources. He also visited other training facilities at Multan garrison.
Later, as part of army’s drive to contribute to nation building projects, the COAS laid down the foundation stone of Multan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Earlier on arrival, the COAS was received by Lt Gen Abid Pervaiz, Commander Multan Corps.
