The 28th of June brought great military action in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan Agency.
Fresh airstrikes by PAF fighter jets exacted in Darga Mandi and Chashma Gaon areas of NWA destroyed terrorist hideouts. An important TTP leader belonging to Miranshah, Commander Umer was killed on the eve of 27th June.
Early Saturday morning witnessed heavy integrated firing by artillery and tanks outside Miranshah, killing seven militants.
Casualties and Arrests:
According to the official briefing by the DG ISPR, 11 terrorists were killed and 6 hideouts were destroyed by the army jets near Mirali, on the night of 27th June. Terrorist’s concentrations were targeted early on 28th June, killing seven terrorists.
In addition to the death of TTP Commander Umer, another notable Al-Qaeda leader has been arrested while fleeing from the NW area. He is an expert in the construction of suicide belt and improvised explosive devices (IED), interrogations have revealed.
At least three more terrorists have also been arrested while trying to escape through crossing the Indus River.
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs):
The civilians have been withdrawn from the North Waziristan Agency. It is being made sure through announcements that any innocent civilian left behind must also leave the area.
For the relief of IDPs, 21543 packets of 110 Kilogram of Rations and 11 Tons of Fodder for cattle have been distributed in Bannu, DI Khan and Tank. Army Medical Corps has also established a field medical hospital at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital to provide health assistance to IDPs at all hours.
Federal Government donated Rs.2 billion for the assistance of people internally displaced by the military operation. Balochistan Government also announced Rs.5 billion for them.
The 314 officers and 15465 officials of FESCO also announced to donate their one-day salary to help out the IDPs.
President Mamnoon Hussain said that country’s armed forces and Operation Zarb-e-Azb has full support of the nation and the government will make every possible effort to relieve the sufferings of the IDPs in relief camps.
Ministry of Health Services and Regulation issued an advisory report to the KP government, recommending to take full healthcare measures to prevent the eruption of epidemics.
Other Developments:
Major airports of the country, in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar will now be shielded from the terrorists under the security provided by Army and Ranger personnels, who will be assisting the Airport Security Forces (ASF) from now onwards.
The KP Police requested the authorities of Khyber Agency and Dara Adam Khel to arrest the TTP commander Shahid guilty of attacking the PIA airplane in Peshawar. The political authorities have also been asked to arrest over 600 wanted terrorists and criminals, according to sources.
Three armed men shot two people, including an IDP, in Naway Kalay area on Hangu road. The IDP Ibraheem was believed to be from the Orakzai Agency, while a woman and her child also got injured during the shooting.
Two primary schools, in Dawazgai area of Mohmand Agency and another in Shabqadr town of Charsadda, were blown up using remote-controlled bombs on Saturday. After the incident, the number of bombed educational units has been increased to 127.
