KARACHI: According to a stock filing, Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. (OGDCL) said on Tuesday that it has found hydrocarbon deposits in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat area.
The notice stated that hydrocarbons had been found in the exploratory segment of the Togh-02 (Slant) well in the Lumshiwal-II Formation, governed by the Pakistan Petroleum and Exploration Rules 2001 and operated by OGDCL, the operator of the Kohat Exploration License in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The discovery was made at sole risk between OGDCL (75 percent) and Saif Energy Ltd (25 percent).
According to OGDCL, the well was successfully spudded on August 28, 2023, and it reached its maximum depth of 2,600 meters.
The Lumshiwal-II Formation underwent the Cased Hole Drill Stem Test (CHDST-01) based on the disruption of wirline logs.
The well had a flow rate of 2.842 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 28 barrels of condensate per day, with a 32/64″ choke size and a well running pressure of 540 pounds per square inch.
According to OGDCL, the finding of gas and condensate has expanded the hydrocarbon play area in the Togh Structure and may present new opportunities.
